Permanent Exhibitions

Hungarikum Liget presents the following permanent exhibitions:

  • Emigration Collection

We need to know our history, because we can only shape our future if we are aware of the true history of the recent past.

From the very beginning, our collection has been shaped by this idea. Through the collected written and material documents, we will show our visitors the emigration over several decades.

  • Collection of Burg Kastl Memorials and Heritage

The Burg Kastl memorial collection, which contains the tabloids, magazines, yearbooks and other relics of the school, which sadly closed in 2006.

The exhibition is displayed in the Kölcsey House.

  • Panteon of Peoples Related to Hungarians

The Panteon of the Peoples of Peoples with a Common Consciousness with Hungarians is a place dedicated to the preservation and presentation of the cultural and spiritual heritage of the Turks, which is a worthy tribute to the historical personalities who, through their work and life, represented the relationship, common knowledge and values between the Turkic peoples. The Pantheon is located between the Yurt Camp and the Iron Horseshoe Riding Stables, next to the Tomb of the Ancestors. The statues and monuments here evoke the most prominent figures of Turkic tradition and spirituality.

  • The Tomb of the Ancestors

Between the Vaspatkó Riding Stables and the Yurt Camp, the Tomb of the Ancestors was inaugurated. In 2019, during the construction of the beach spa, we found eight Avar tombs, which were excavated with the help of archaeologists from the Kiskun Museum. The open building contains the symbolic tomb of an Avar leader.

  • Bible House

Located next to the Saint Stephen's Chapel and the Christian Pantheon sculpture park, the newly built 21.5 square metre Bible House is a unique memorial to the Holy Scriptures in Hungary.

The simple, but sacral building, with its mosaic exterior, serves as the venue of the exhibition of the old Bibles and Scriptures.

We also have a handwritten Bible in proccess, of which every sentence is written by a different person, as each visitor has the opportunity to copy a line of the Bible in handwriting that evokes the past.

Anyone who comes here can only write one sentence a day, the next one, and will receive this sentence as a bookmark.

  • Vezéri Kőjurta (Leader's Stone Yurt)

The Vezéri Kőjurta (Leaders Stone Yurt) was estabilished in the autumn of 2005. It presents the works of a woodcarving artist Béla Ferencz.

It is exhibited in a circular building next to the original Mongolian yurt tents, the works on display cover major events in Hungarian history, from the Avar period to Hungary's accession to the EU.

The works of Béla Ferencz, one of the most inspired woodcarvers of modern times, can only be seen in two places in Hungary, one of which is here in Lakitelek.

  • Kácsor Tanya

The farmhouse, called Kácsor Tanya, was built in the first half of the 20th century during the time of the Research Institute for Viticulture and Oneology, but later it s ownership was transfered to the Állami Gazdasáhg of Lakitelek.

At that time it was used as a residence for employees, and its namesake was László Kácsor, the former editor-in-chief of the Anthology Publisher and Print and former director of the Népfőiskola Foundation.

The renovated and modernised building currently houses two exhibitions.

The Botz Room is an exhibition space for the archaeological finds of the Felsőalpár, where the history of Lakitelek and the Népfőiskola, as well as the history of the Lakitelek tent, are presented.

The Pálinka Zug is intended to show the production of the fruit spirit that has become a Hungaricum, i.e. pálinka, from the methods of the old days to the modern technology of today.

Besides the classical exhibited objects, visitors will also find interactive interfaces.

  • Hungarikum Exhibition House

The visitors can explore the House of Hungaricums, the world of natural sciences in an interactive ways.

For this reason that we have given a motto: "Hungarians on earth and sky".

The building is made up of four functional units: the Reception Hall, the Stargazer, the Hall of Hungaricums , which is surrounded by the five-part exhibition space called Geniuses.

We gave the themes of the five semi-circular rooms appropriate names: Chemists and Compounds, Inventors and Their Inventions, Illusion, The Laws of Physics, and Space and Astronomy.

The House of Hungaricums not only invites visitors on an unforgettable astronomical journey, but also introduces them to the still recognised and significant work and impact of Hungarian scientists and experts.

The modern stargazing planetarium, the eighth stargazing facility in Hungary, is also part of the exhibition hall. Our short films show the wonders of the night sky in an interesting and spectacular way!
